Memorial service information for Gold Card Member John Dial Jr

Dear Sisters and Brothers, and Kin,

It is with a heavy heart that we report the loss of our 50-year Gold Card Member, Brother John P. Dial. Brother Dial was born on May 22, 1924, was initiated into Local 2 on May 5, 1943, and he retired in June 1987. John spent almost his entire stagehand career at WGN-TV, where his professionalism and kind demeanor were on constant display. John will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Below is Brother Dial’s obituary, which his family shared with us:

John P. Dial Jr., age 100

Beloved husband of the late Irene; loving father of Sandra, John III, and David (the late Susan); cherished grandfather of Rich (Alyssa) Dial, Jennifer (Mike) Quintanilla, David Jr. (Lea) Dial; and great-grandfather of Mia, Isla, and Owen.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, from 8:15 a.m. until the time of the Funeral at 10:00 a.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E Irving Park Road (at Prospect), Itasca. From there, we will proceed to Saint Peter the Apostle Church, 551 N Rush, Itasca. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
